Conference: Palliative care

Conference given by Dr. Lori Thompsom, clinical psychologist in the palliative care unit of the Matía Foundation, which will address topics such as:

• Cultural aspects of death, the denial and taboo of its existence and our difficulty in coping with it.
• Introduction to palliative care: the reason and history of its development, the philosophy, values and objectives of this model of caring for the last stage of life in order to maintain a good quality of life until the last moment of life, alleviating avoidable suffering in a person-centred and comprehensive care.
• Emotional aspects of adapting to this situation. Accompaniment and bereavement.
