Guidance for facilitating meaningful activities of daily living with people with dementia.
Throughout our lives, our days are full of daily activities that we perform, most of the time, without even realizing it. However, many of them give meaning and content to our lives, and are a reflection of who we are as individuals.
In people with dementia this is no different, although research on the importance of meaningful daily activity for people with dementia is a relatively new field and not yet very extensively developed. What is important is that the person with dementia has the opportunity to be involved in the kind of activities they enjoyed before dementia. Therefore, the life history becomes an indispensable tool to support care planning for each person.
This guide has been prepared so that those involved in supporting people with dementia in their day-to-day routines have a practical tool to perform meaningful therapeutic activities of daily living.
