The assessment and intervention of people with advanced dementia is a challenge from a care, socio-demographic and family point of view and an opportunity to offer better care to the most vulnerable people in society.
The identification of the advanced stage of the disease, such as knowledge of assessment tools for advanced cognitive impairment or pain in people with communication problems, proposing a form of comprehensive assessment in people with advanced dementia, reflecting on the proportionality of care and relevant aspects in decision-making.
Objectives
- To improve knowledge about the advanced phase of Alzheimer's disease.
- To present tools for assessment and intervention.
- To learn about and reflect on ethical dilemmas and address the most relevant problems in the care of people with dementia.
- To discuss proposals for end-of-life care for patients with dementia.
- To improve interdisciplinarity and personalised care based on respect and compassion.
- To raise awareness among society and professionals in general about the care problem of advanced dementia.
