The new longevity
The current transition towards longevity is shaped by a demographic change, with a gain in life expectancy occurring at older ages and accompanied by a series of structural (social, economic) and individual changes that give rise to new experiences of ageing and unprecedented social change.
This seminar, organised by the Social Observatory of "la Caixa" Foundation, aims to analyse these issues from a multidisciplinary perspective, bringing together different expert views with the aim not of providing answers, but of generating the right questions to help understand the social phenomenon of the transition to longevity. With the aim of addressing the necessary reconceptualisation of the frameworks that structure the economy, society and everyday life, the seminar will be established around the following axes:
- Health and care.
- Economy, work and education.
- Identity and new social relations.
The working sessions will be structured around a panel discussion followed by a debate in small groups.
Our colleague, Elena del Barrio, co-director of Matia Instituto, is among the members of a panel on "Identity and new social relations".
