XIV International Congress of the Spanish Society of Palliative Care (SECPAL)
In the face of emerging and changing challenges in society, such as the aging of the population, the increase in chronic diseases and the globalization of health, third wave public health is born, seeking a more comprehensive and holistic approach, capable of recognizing the interconnection between the social, environmental, economic and biological factors that influence people's health, and which seeks to address the social determinants of health in a more proactive and collaborative manner. To this end, it recognizes the community as an essential element for the most "humane" care of the person, incorporating the experiences of death and loss in our health formulations and including the need for compassion in our health policies.
In this context, palliative care is a crucial component of this new public health paradigm by improving the quality of life of patients and reducing the burden of serious illness in their environment, promoting health in society as a whole.
During this congress, organized by SECPAL, we will have the opportunity to discuss this new concept, and to share knowledge, experiences and good practices that will allow us to strengthen our palliative care services.
The following professionals from Matia will participate in this event:
- Dr. Petra Teresa Peña Labour, with the oral communication: "Poor prognostic factors and hospital mortality identified with the IF VIG in NECPAL+ patients".
- Dr. Arlovia Herasme Grullón, with the communication: "Decisions at the end of life: about a case of a patient with advanced neoplasia".
