Barcelona Women Acceleration Week (BWAW) celebrates its second edition with the aim of accelerating and energising gender equality to help achieve full participation and equal opportunities for women in the industrial sector locally and globally.

BWAW is an event with a difference: a peer-to-peer, hybrid debate on a digital platform, which aims to become a model for value-added activities that contribute to universally accessible progress towards gender equality.

Just one year ago, all our hopes were pinned on vaccination as the only way to end the health pandemic caused by COVID-19. We lived through a very tough 2020, with fear and suffering. But where we showed that, despite everything, even the Administration's interest in keeping the elderly locked up and isolated, they can (and should) be treated with dignity. They showed us that they are stronger than they think they are and, unwittingly, they gave us new energy to continue to be by their side and that of their families.

Age discrimination against older people, or ageism, is an indisputable reality in today's society. With this conference, organised by the Imserso, the aim is for people to learn about the discrimination suffered by the elderly from a scientific-technical point of view, what types of discrimination there are, where it manifests itself most intensely, what its consequences are, what types of discrimination there are, what studies exist on this problem, what instruments exist to combat it, etc.
