This is an action-research project based on participatory methodologies, through which it is intended to help each person living in an IASS residence to develop a quality life, a chosen life, without leaving the community to which they belong and with the support and care they need.
It constitutes the next phase of the pilot research project on the implementation of cohabitation units in the residences of the Aragonese Institute of Social Services, which began at the end of 2022, through which the nine residences for the elderly directly managed by the IASS were accompanied in their reorganization into cohabitation units and in the provision of support and care from a PCA approach.
Objectives
- To give continuity to the actions initiated in the previous project, to consolidate the achievements in the cohabitation units that were set up
- To scale up the actions, reaching new areas or units in each centre involved and improving coordination with the agents involved in the change.
- To evaluate the impact of the change in the care model in the short and medium term in the different situations.
- To have a roadmap for subsequent actions.
Methodology
Three main lines of action:
- Research. The aim is to document and demonstrate the impact on the people who live in the care units, their families and professionals, as well as the change in contextual variables. To this end, different evaluation procedures are being implemented: quantitative, qualitative, observational and process-based.
- Training. Both face-to-face in everyday care settings and online through the Matia Eskola platform.
- Support. This involves the activation of a participatory process through a network of actions for training, advice and facilitation to support change. Helping the different groups involved in the project to design and implement their transformation plan.
