Basque Active Ageing Strategy 2015 - 2020

The ageing of the population can be defined as a process by which changes occur in the composition of the age structure of a population. This process has two dimensions, which can be differentiated by their causes and their effects.

One dimension refers to the increase in the proportion of the elderly in society. This assumes that this age group happens to grow faster than the rest. The causes of this variation are mainly: the drop in birth rate and increased life expectancy.

We hope that with this Basque Active Ageing Strategy 2015 - 2020, we can contribute to the identification of a Governance model that gives the floor to ageing people and that helps build a society for all ages.
