Alex Ferro

Since 2014, he has been an assistant pharmacist at Matia Hospital. He has extensive experience in pharmaceutical care for geriatric patients. Together with geriatric specialists, he has developed a person-centered prescription model for patients with advanced chronic diseases, which has brought about a cultural change in the care of people at the end of life within Matia Fundazioa. As a result of this work, in 2021, he acquired a Doctorate in Pharmacy.

It is worth noting his outstanding participation in the project on reengineering the dispensing of medicines to residential centers in said Foundation, culminating in the first installation in 2014 of an Automated Personalized Dosing System in a hospital pharmacy service on the national scene. He also participated, among other things, as an advisor in the development of the Farmabide Project led by the Pharmacy Department of the Basque Government. He is currently collaborating on different projects related to geriatric care and the safe and rational use of medicines. More information here.

He has been part of the teaching and research staff of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Deusto since 2021.
