Bakardadeak: exploring loneliness among the aging elderly in Gipuzkoa. Summary.
This document presents a summary of the most outstanding results of the Bakardadeak project. It has been structured in five main work blocks: a bibliographical review of scientific documentation on the subject in which the concept of loneliness and the types of interventions implemented to address it are analyzed; a qualitative study that explores the social representations, perceptions and motives associated with loneliness in all its facets; a quantitative study that shows the existing profiles of loneliness in the territory and offers the prevalence of loneliness among people aged 55 and over in Gipuzkoa, in addition to investigating its differentiating characteristics; an evaluation of the impact of the interventions currently carried out by voluntary action initiatives that accompany lonely people or generate support networks to alleviate loneliness both in centers for the elderly and in the community, and a basis for the elaboration and design of a political strategy to address loneliness.
This summary has been prepared to support the dissemination of the Bakardadeak project, a project funded through the 2018 call of the Adinberri Program of the Department of Economic Promotion, Rural Environment and Territorial Balance of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Department of Social Policies.
